not to sound too kj on this but.. don't you think comparing the two is kind of politically incorrect? autism is a disorder right? so when you put the two side by side, it kinda makes homosexuality appear like a disorder too. does that sound logical?

i'm not being a crusader here, i genuinely want to know.

@hilarion I have an idea, let's have the impartial judge Google Adsense decide! if homosexuality were a disorder, you should see "Cure your gayness" ads popping up on this thread.

... and so far, all I see are "autistic" ads.

I have another idea. How about we compare "autism" with "being a fan of Raimund Marasigan and Sandwich" instead?

study shows that homosexuality is a "disorder" something about the brain activity/function being different compared to heterosexuals but who knows.

to answer the Q maintenance wise I'd go with gay or bi but if you wanna go biblical I go with autism for obvious reasons.

p.s. try to get a haircut or fashion advise from an autistic person and see where that gets you.

If you want me to choose one, I'll gp for a gay son than an Autistic son.

Uhm, guys? I'm hoping this isn't a measure of your capability to love an offspring.
Although, I've known a few mentally challenged people in friends' households and they are plenty lovable. I don't have qualms about bringing up a gay kid so long as he grows up to be a decent human being.

@cm, i think the question's mostly directed to men, because most women have the so-called maternal instinct or natural motherly love whatever that makes them accept and love their children unconditionally whatever shortcomings, disorders, and/or abnormalities they may have.

I get your point that this might be directed to men for reasons you mentioned. Thing about that is, parenting works from two points and is not limited to just mothers and their love or instincts.

@araflexia i actually read something like that in a book once when i did my thesis. the author was firm about the fact that homosexuality is a mental disorder that is brought about by abnormal circumstances during a child's formative years.

pills? testosterone plus a daily dose of zooey, angelina and sarah roehmer and hellow hetero world, it could backfire though and you'd get masculine faeries who wants to be those girls. *shudders* lolz.
@larry case to case basis perhaps, I remember playing a lot with girls when I was small and my uncle was afraid that I was crossing to the rainbow color side but I grew up "fine" and uber attracted to the opposite sex

@araflexia well, the author din't say anytihing about that now-common reason of spending time with the opposite sex. what he illustrated were more extreme cases like choldhood violence, absentee fathers etc. it's quite interesting but the book is old and prolly outdated.

well male homo brains are smaller than hetero brains, the more they become mermaids, the brain size nears that of a woman. it becomes so small to store stuff other than an encyclopaedic knowledge of dicks.

@quentin - i think i saw that too and then confirmation came when male baboons in a zoo started licking each other's balls.

my paternal instinct or natural fatherly love (okay ba mesai? :)) tells me i should love my son unconditionally. and like all parents, all i wish is for him to be "normal".

In the old world "normal" means not gay. but in these fucked up times, even a crazy guy can be called "normal."

@pekto -- one would say that there is no such thing as "normal," only varying degrees of "abnormality." it's all subjective, right?

@MrClean my serious reply to this question is that it's way too easy to decide. _obviously_ you'd rather have a gay son than an autistic one. otherwise, you'd have to contend with your kid listening to Sandwich all the time.

darth, so, your wife would be the only cocksucker in the dining table, unless you're part of the .01% male population who don't want to be fellated, at all. bata ka pa, patte, you can still broaden your mind regarding homosexuality. actually, most living organisms are homosexuals. ancient greeks and romans practiced bisexuality, ergo, ka pekto, mali 'yung term mong "old world" dahil nagsimula ang homophobia in the new world which was when the hypocritical anglicans occupied native american indian territory.

i was in theater for 8 years (i almost admitted that i'm gay), heard stories from gay guys and somewhere in their formative years something went wrong which turned them to the pink side of life. so yes, i agree with what larry read.

Wow! all this discussion and not even a single pat for my provocative topic? Shame on you people.

To be serious though, this was meant to be a "drunk question". You know, like "anong mas gusto mong kainin, tae na lasang ube, o ube na lasang tae".

However you could approach in in a social perspective, re: I'm almost positive that soe of my male friends would have a really hard time figuring out which was a worse case scenario. The answer for me is really easy, I'd rather a gay child than an autistic one. While I'd be a little sad because I think every man wants a child that grows up to be just as or even more virile than he is, at least gayness isn't a sickness. Being gay just means you're a man who likes cock. Or a chick loves muff.

Autistic children have been integrated well enough into society these days, but I'd rather my child didn't have to fight through any physical or mental defects if possible, up to and including being a fan of Sandwich and Raimund Marasigan.
