I used to think that there is problem with education....
But I realized that the problem is education.
"Today, the most dangerous advice is to go to school, get high grades, get a college diploma to get a secured job. Today, college graduates are being paid less than they need." -Robert Kiyosaki-
Hmmm...

-------
Every pertinent study has shown that the more education you have, the higher your net worth and income. Also, educated people live longer, have fewer divorces, better health, and so forth. - John T. Reed

should the poster have appendicitis or maybe explosive diarrhea, i hope he finds a well-schooled albularyo.
darthjesus, you didn't get me... did you?? I am talking about school education...
Education is very important, that is why I keep on learning.
please let there be a flame war... please... with sugar on top...
:)
i'm wonder where that Kiyosaki guy is now that the US real estate is in a HUGE slump
Similar to computers: Garbage in, garbage out.
@arteo - oh you never said you kept on learning until after the replies. and you should have made it clear YOU were talking ABOUT education. why what is your problem WITH education and what made you realize that the problem IS education? most pseudo-intellectuals resort to deliberate vagueness to appear smart.
and why the kiyosaki quote?
@manong spits - you know i don't really like to flame on forums, it's a boon to the slow witted. irc is my fave arena, you get to see those with a quick wit and witless wonders. lollers.
^well it was worth a try. can you blame me? hahaha!
lollers@manong my fingers are now conditioned to the arrow keys and certain keybinds. you should have posted......

okay thatsit, i'm stoned now.
I was talking about education. And so I followed up with the Kiyosaki quote.
I'm so sorry if you mis understand me. I'll make it clearer next time. Here in the Philippines, it would take us almost 15 years in school plus the review for the board exams to be legitimate professionals. Plus, more years in masterals degree. It would cost almost half a million to finished up BS degrees.
As Kiyosaki says, college graduates are being paid less than they need.
i discovered irc then, years ago, when i was writing my thesis... got addicted to it and one thing led to another, i wasnt able to finish my thesis on time. lol.
going back to your post, you mentioned that education IS important thats why you continue learning. how do you do it then? if you dont believe in schools, how exactly do you learn?
*wondering where arteo went to school*
I learn everytime I talk to people. from books. from experiences...
I remembered when i was about to go college. I inquired at the dean of Business Administration. He told me I can't go to Business Administration because my high school grades are low... I started wondering why.
But now I know why they don't let me do it. It is because they now nothing about business... They haven't experienced doing it....
yes it does take time. but then again, thats why were favored in other countries, because they feel that we have a lot of exposure to areas where we should learn a lot.
we all have standards. why would one school rejecting you stop you from getting what you want? i think the real education is life itself.
^gutom lang yan uy! steak...?
kiyosaki is not the biblical truth. he's an effin salesman, he said "today" they are being paid less than they need (which obviously is being compared to yesteryears). i nominate him for being a god of obviousness. i wonder if he will just let his audience factor-in INFLATION somewhere. that's the problem how he writes stuff, he keeps them open-ended, and calls it advice. lollers. where i am right now, it's 9 years of primary school, 3-4 years of highschool and 6 years for a degree. there might be a short-cut for education somewhere but the learning process goes on.
oh fuck, the WoW battlegrounds just began.
^ he should go to zimbabwe and solve their inflation rate there.
uy spits. steak for breakfast hehe.
Are we really favored by other countries because they feel we have a lot of exposure? Or because we paid so little. (High paid when converted to peso...). Its just that I have relatives abroad and they been working there for so many years.
One is librarian, other is in computer related stuff, one care giver(many more...), After so many years, they want to come back here and do business. Yes, they are secured in there. But they miss something, freedom. They said, they are tired.
Siguro nagkataon lang na ganun sa pamilya ko. Hindi naman siguro lahat. Guys, do you know anyone abroad?
pero ganun naman kasi talaga sa ibang bansa eh. kayod talaga. it doesnt matter whether you have a high end job or not, you would have to work for your salary. or siguro maganda lang pag mataas na yung position mo kasi you get to boss around people and then youd have the reason to slack off.
and when it comes to freedom, thats another issue. be reminded that if youre in another country, people will always see you initially as a foreigner. so if you want to prove your self to them, then youd have to earn it as well.
alam mo ba na ang mga kausap mo ngayon eh nasa abrod? si hq saka si darthie, nasa switz, si spits nasa chicago, at ako nasa trinidad and tobago.
nope! so.... kumusta naman kayo jan! layo nyo pala.!
*ay. abroad..
eto, uwian na =)
^wala gutom lang yan! order na ng steak for breakfast! nyahahahahaha!!!
futa di ako makatulog sa kakatwa, story of ricky ule.
@arteo - ya the freedom not to be 2nd class citizens abroad. hahahah. naka one day akong umuwi nga pinas last january, iba talaga. kakamiss.
@miss_trinidad&tobaggo - oy ateng tulog naaaaaa lollers
Kiyosaki is not the wealth messiah. He's just telling people what they like to hear. I'm saying this because after reading his book, I was disappointed. His whole book is summed up in one sentence
DON'T BE AFRAID TO TAKE RISKS WITH MONEY
Yun lang. Which is really bad advice. Pukneneng. You still have to work for whatever you wish for.
And do you know what I really hate? Since college is for losers then all the contributions made by college educated individuals in science, culture, government and other fields for the betterment of humanity was pointless.
Acquiring wealth is the only worthwhile pursuit.
His book is a mass of contradictions. Granted that depending only on your retirement plan is not a smart move. Depending only on your salary is not good for the long run. But you can't just disregard them out of hand. Kailangan pa din ng empleyado.
i think college is a waste of time for people who just want to earn money. so that excludes people who study for otherwise (literary pursuits, science, etc.)
not everyone can be a businessman. and not everyone _should_ be a businessman. who'd kiss your ass then? XD
^yun nga eh. the corporate heirarchy exists so that people have goals.
The rat race exists so that people will force themselves to think of ways to get out of it.
Kung walang individuals earning steady income as employees, wala ring bebentahan ang mga businessmen.
It's give and take. It always is.
@atreo -"But they miss something, freedom. They said, they are tired.
abroad life is not a paradise. sure you have plenty of materials and distractions but the more you have the more problems you have.
My parents decided to retire after living here for almost 3 decades and go back in the Philippines as life is more simpler and relaxed, I might follow there lead when that time comes as well.
Best reply so far is from quents.
If you go to college just to earn money after, Then you wont. Education is never ending and the is nothing wrong with education coz you wouldn't be writing this thread if you're uneducated... Get me?
Blame it all to the individual and not on the low pay rate and education. You will only be successful if you only choose to be... and there's is nothing in this world that can prevent it from happening if your heart is nailed on it.

You must live for what ever governance you are under. If you're in Philippines, Yes, moving up is a pain in the ass. So, don't rely on just a College degree. That is the reason why Masters, and Doctorate was invented to help you advanced and elevate your market value from the bachelors crowd. Them you will paid more and you won't have any problems with education anymore. *wink*
That's "then you will be paid more."
I was enrolled in AMA , One of my teacher said (he is an engineer by profession) hes contract will end soon unless he earned a masteral degree.
So I ask him, "why not go and get it?". He answered, "I can't. My salary is not enough for my masteral."
So sad but really true. I have read an entrepreneurs magazine and it says that AMA computer college belongs to the top 10 franchise in the philippines. tsk!
And so as a friend of mine who was a former student of CEU. He says that CEU stands for "Cuarta Escholar University".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~end~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
^ I'am currently taking up my master's degree In De La Salle. My salary is barely enough to pay for just 2 subject. If I'll go further and enroll for 3 subject, I'll be eating dust tomorrow. What I did is look for a sponsor or scholarship(this won't be too hard for your teacher). That cuts away 50% of my tuition expense. The other half, I made by accepting freelance jobs and some business selling cooking oil. Now, I have my full tuition and was able to continue masters.
What I'm trying to say is, excuses wont get you anywhere. Kung gusto may paraan, kung ayaw may dahilan.
CEU maybe expensive... but education don't come cheap you know? You pay for what you get... and you only get what you are willing to accept.
I feel a warm sense of satisfaction knowing that there are others who share my hatred for Kiyosaki.
I've never actually read the whole book, but for some reason he just sounds like a self-important asshole preaching from a soapbox.
^ because we know a hack when we see one.
i've read the book, just wanted see the "bestseller" no one ever heard of, before AmWay sales boosted it up. he's got tapes and games in there too. lollers.
i want a greenspan board-game!!! hahaha
pwedeng po bang isali si Donald Trump?
If some of us hates Kiyosaki, how about Donald?
^ I love Ivanka Trump
Donald is a rich guy that you can easily like. He has no sense of entitlement and he actually works. So is Warren Buffet.
One of Warren Buffet's quotes I like is this:
"I want to give my kids enough so that they could feel that they could do anything, but not so much that they could do nothing."
Yan yung problema ko kasi with people. Yung mga taong may sense of entitlement. Kakainis. :D
^I love Ivanka's trumps.. :p
Nice discussion going on here..
But really, I just beg to differ in living with what other men say.
College is simply not enough, but if you go back to the topic about Education here in the Philippines, you also have to butt in the fact that it is inculcated within the Filipinos that earning a college degree is enough to feed your ass up. It all depends however in the perspective you're looking from.
^ nose bleed.
