I was on my way to office this morning when suddenly the FM station (90.7 love radio to be exact) that the FX was tuned into played the crappiest and cheesiest song I've ever heard...the tagalog version of Rihanna's hit song - Umbrella.
I'm not a fan of Rihanna or any R&B artist and has nothing against them but hearing this kind of music makes me sick! I mean, just the thought of Umbrella being translated in tagalog makes me puke. It will be acceptable if it was intended to be a parody just like what Michael V. is doing on some of famous english songs but maaaaan...the song is obviously on the serious side! The melody and tune is the same as the english version. Check below lyrics of the song:
Kasi...tayo'y parang araw, sisikat
Pangako ko sayo'y di ka iiwan,
ikaw lamang ang aking kaibigan
Sumumpa pagkaibiga'y d mawawala
Ang unos ma'y biglag bumuhos
Di ka na mauulanan
Di ka na mauulanan……
Di na, di na
Hinde… hinde… hinde….
Di ka na mauulanan
Di na, di na
Hinde… hinde… hinde….
*wasaaaak*
It's quite sad how some Pinoy artists try to ride the popularity of some songs, foreign hits to be exact, just to be known in a rapid way. Instead of spending so much time trying to translate a song, why not try to create an original composition. I know there are risks of not being appreciated by majority of listeners but at least you'll be proud that that song is your own. I still believe that there are some praise worthy OPM artists out there who firmly believes that original composition is the key to success of the OPM industy. Ok..enough with the rant, time to go back to work and kill myself.

@acer: lollers! atleast the "low low low low..." thingy is a visayan parody ^_^
huwaat?! tagalizing fad came back?! will the fact that renz verano's not the singer somehow lessens the "kabakyaan" of it?
sumpa ko,
saksi ang buwan at mga bituin.
nariyan ako.
sumpa ko.
oldest one I can think of. :)
mas nakakatawa... "Daku Kaluguran daka, Kaluguran sobra sobra." Tama ba? shwet...
Sori pampangenos... kaasar lang talaga eh.
@Jots18: from what song did that came from? and yeah..where's my sketch ^_^
@mesai: yeah, and it's haunting my ears right now! renz verano's songs is much "bakya" and cheesy than this one, i think. they just made an "upgrade" because the renz verano era only tagalized love songs, this time even R&B is being victimized.
@spidamang: yeah that one is quite old, but still cheesy just like the others. if i'm not mistaken, that's the tagalog version of "I Swear"
@wicked: Where's your previous hifi6 avatar?
ear worms, dammit!!!

It can also cut the other way:
(name the tune and artist)
Threeeeeeeee.............
twenty-five centavo coins are all that I needed,
So that I can talk to her even for a moment.
Three twenty-five centavo coins are all that I needed,
So that ,
That I love her so, I love her sohoh,
I love her so, nobody else, noho!
(Repeat)
Refrain:
Ohoh please lady,
Help me change my money,
Ohoh please, Ohoh please oh lady,
I'm missing her alreadeeeheeheeheeheeheeheehee....

i heard lots of these songs in my classmates phones... we just laughed our ass of while listening..err but its crap actually
cuntclapper, kay dingdong yan ah, tatlong bente singko lang hehe..
Filipinos master of imitation..
they would do anything to suck out the living fame out of songs..
dun na nga lang magaling ang mga pinoy sumasablay pa.. nakakainis na nakakahiya!
hahah, wasak nga. well, people do have to make a living, no denying that. besides, there's always the ipod, which means we could just tune that shit out anyway.
and i doubt that anyone would get a respectable, decent long lasting career doing these kinds of shit.
I haven't heard the umbrella tagalog translation..coz i very seldom listen to radio nowadays...But when I was in a taxi cab, i heard "bleeding in love by leona lewis" translated in tagalog and OMG!!!!! it was horrible as well...the melody is still nice but translation itself it somewhat semplang......imagine, this line
English = keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding in love
Tagalog translation = walang tigil ang sugat
duh???!!!!! ano yun galis?
i had a nose bleed....
OMG lolsies. Link please, I want a barrelful of laughs.
