At first I thought this news is all about the 3rd sequel for Batman movie. But it looks like there is another solo Catwoman flick in the works. Here is the scoop from Monsters and Critics.
Angelina Jolie is reportedly being lined up to star as Catwoman in a new movie. The 33-year-old actress is said to be in final negotiations with studio bosses to play the feline villain who first appeared in the Batman comics.
Angelina has already been approved for the role by Julie Newmar, who played Catwoman in the ‘Batman’ TV series from 1966 to 1968. Julie, now 74, said: “Angelina would own the part. My industry friends tell me she has already made enquiries about the role. I can understand how it would pique her interest. Catwoman is Batman’s one true love.
Seriously, I would be happy to see Angelina in leather suit. With those eyes and and lips, she is perfect to be the next Catwoman. Though there is still no details about the movie but we hope they will revive the Selina Kyle character and should I say make a spin off for the Batman Nolan Films.
U P D A T E
Just doing a background check and I just found this.
Its a 2002 series and it features the main members of Birds of Prey namely Huntress and Oracle. In this tv series Huntress is the daughter of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle.
Declining ratings led to the show's cancellation, but as several episodes of the thirteen episode order were yet to be filmed, the producers were able to wrap up the story lines in the last three episodes.
Does anyone watched this series before? Is it worth watching?

Yeah, I used to watch Birds of Prey. The story has now evolved to a cross between Xmen and Batman. Metahumans (mutants) with extraordinary powers exist side by side with normal human beings.
Huntress was adopted by Batgirl who is now a cripple. Batman and Catwoman are dead but a Joker-like psychiatrist, Harlequin, is Huntress' nemesis. I'm not sure but she could be Joker's protege.
The show was okay but lacked the depth and excitement of the Batman franchise. Needless to say I'm a Tim Burton fan.

in nolan's batman, i heard a rumor about kate beckinsale doing catwoman in the future. she looks so fuckin hot in high boots, leather, and corsets,

I read that Batman is still not dead in that TV show. He just seeks sanctuary somewhere else after Catwoman's death.

hmmm, Kate Beckinsale is indeed Hot in Leather. Underworld is not that good but because Kate is in leather I took the liberty of watching it.

^Yup. I go for Beckinsale. The upcoming Underworld: Rise of the Lycans wouldn't have her, and I don't know if I'll be watching. Anyway, Bill Nighy is still there, so maybe yes.
As for the series Birds of Prey, I've only watch about 3 episodes or so, in which it starred Ashley Scott as Huntress. And yeah, although intentions were good, it lacked credibility on the plot.

Angelina Jolie already played Catwoman... sort of. In the graphic novel, Wanted, the character Fox was an analogue of Catwoman (while Wesley was an analogue of Bullseye). In the film adaptation of Wanted, Angelina Jolie was Fox. So there you go.
Just to add, Fox's apperance in the comics was based on Halle Berry. She of course can't play Catwoman because it will remind moviegoers of her awful film a few years ago.

YAY I think she'd be perfect :) I loved Julie Newmar as catwoman although my favourite for the role is really Michelle Pfeiffer, who was just plain ICONIC for that character.
I've also considered Uma Thurman, Nicole Kidman, Milla Jovovich... but I'm happy with Angelina Jolie :D

Cher might be a good catwoman. She could try to give new insights on the catwoman storyline maybe about an old cabaret lady trying to live up her old days. I dunno it just might work. remember noone thought Heath Ledger would be a good joker but look at him now noone can't think of a better Joker than the late HL
