Ok, I was trying to keep this site under wraps while I worked on it some more, but it looks like it's impossible to keep anything hidden from you guys. (I was forced to point the highfiber.org domain to my staging site for various technological reasons, and was hoping that nobody'd notice. Shyeah right.)
This isn't really an official welcome, as there's still a few things that need to be done, but let's get a couple of things out of the way first:
1. I really don't like recycling old work, so please don't expect double-zero to be like v6, or whatever other highfiber version was your favorite. All I ask is that you give this version a chance over the next few weeks, and see if it grows on you.
2. Double-Zero is hosted by a local Cebu startup called MorphExchange (I mention these guys every now and then on my blog) and although the service seems pretty solid, it's taken me awhile to get used to its quirks and idiosyncracies. You'll have to bear with the weird downtime every now and then; I apologize in advance.
3. To improve site stability I'm using Amazon S3 to store all user-uploaded images. This means that your avatars and photo uploads are no longer being stored in the same physical space as the rest of this website. This is a new thing for me, and it's taken me awhile to figure Amazon's web services out, which is why our photo management was really flakey today. (It will probably be pretty flakey tomorrow as well.) Sorry for the disappearing avatars.
4. Ironically, the Friends functionality doesn't work yet. This should be a simple thing to add though, so it'll probably be available pretty soon as well.
5. There are tons of things that I want to add, but realistically speaking, after the initial sprint of throwing this first draft together, the time I'm going to have available to keep building this out is going to be severely limited. What you're looking at now is the product of about 30 hours of work from Saturday the 14th to Thursday the 19th, and that's 30 hours that I honestly didn't have. So please just be patient -- we're going to grow this version out a little more slowly than everyone's used to, but that doesn't mean I'm going to let it just languish like before. (Hell, the domain name is paid out until 2012, so I think we can keep this thing running until at least that year.)

^ I didn't actually get it at first but now I get it. Pretty witty move by Luis. However, if there's one thing that I have actually learned in my three years and a half years of stay here in Highfiber, it's that points doesn't really affect the trolls. unlike the old version, points aren't a factor for double zero. there's no threshold before a member can poke, and it doesn't affect the weight of the damage a poke can inflict. since members can poke regardless of their points, i don't think the reason is as simple as that. specially if you look at it, there's really no point(pun intended)

Oh hello, a few weeks later and I have a few ideas/issues. NAG NAG NAG.
Just for your consideration, Lord Luis:
1) Is it possible to increase the number of items we see on the main page? There is a huge daily movement of stuff in the photos section because that's where a lot of members post and comment, and it would be so nice to see comments to my comments to my comments still on the main page for the next 10 minutes. Don't know how that affects page loading though.
2) Is it also possible to see a member's friend list? It would be really nice to add someone that I found on a friend's page, in a 6 degrees of separation kind of drama, so we can add each other up and whack off to each other's contributions.
