'Ever wanted to get back at the guys responsible for the bossanova epidemic eras ago, the one that got as cheesy as the "Umbrella" translation that got almost everyone (as far as I know) in this community agreeably pissed?
I've got nothing against the artists who did this, they're good, (in their own way), it's just that the commercial exploitation that drove them to throw in even the proverbial kitchen sink in the act brought back the earbleeding suffering similar to having to listen to "More Than Words" every 10 minutes in the 90's.
So if you have to fight fire with fire, and throw in the toilet bowl into the act to avenge for them throwing in the proverbial kitchen sink, what song would you like to be reconfigured to something that would make Astrud Gilberto turn in her grave?
Here's mine: BUTCHE KIK.

most Bossa music rendition lately are a bit of a Samba... Same thing happend to Flamenco, most of them that are being played are Rhumba style which is not actually part of the traditional Flamenco.

^how's your classical guitar playing holding up? kaya na ang flight of the bumblebee? :D I know it's not the usual classical piece but I saw an blind spanish guy do it with a classical guitar in youtube.

Anyway after Sitti became popular. Everybody wanted a piece of the pie. What really did it for me was when Sick Cycle Mind bastardized teeth's prinsesa and made one of the cheesiest videos ever.

^I'm not into classical pre... :) just started my self study in flamenco and it pisses me off coz' I cant even perfect a simple 3-finger Rasgueado. good thing about flamenco is you can create a good melody in 1 compas (beat).

when we were still playing in iloilo we used to play bossa from sonia and astrud gilberto and people dont buy it not until sitti came out at the same time disbanded na kami. :(

@spidey: don't even like their version of upside down. :)

@chels: I think Jinky is overrating her Packy. Manny's songs was widely acknowledged just because he's supremely famous in boxing. If he never see the light of the center ring and chooses to voice everything out, the only fame that he'll get is with a couple of friends, a GRO, a videoke machine and 10 cases of beer. But ei, can't change the fact that Manny is still Money.

Let them do "5-6" (di ko alam kung tama). For those who didn't know, the song goes like this, "Kami bumbai galing sa India, Dito benta hulugan pa...."

bossa is for coffee bars only...
I admit, at first I'm not interested in listening to bossa music, not until I saw Sitti singing in a local bar along ortigas area..she's undeniably cute and very down to earth. don't want to sound cheesy but... i heart sitti *awwww*

how about wait and bleed bossa style? wait a sec, ever heard richard cheese's jazz rendition of known hard rock music (i.e chop suey)?

well bossa is bossa...with that signature bouncy-shoulder beat...i've also thought that bossa is the jazz equivalent of brazil...but looking at trends now..it seems that bossa is more synonymous to pop than its bluesy counterpart....(e.g. Bossa n' Marley) wtf?...
