I was cleaning a nickel-plated .32 S&W Long when I heard the reports of the pardoning of Claudio Teehankee, Jr. and the possible parole of Rolito Go. Being unfamiliar with the cases (I was a kid back then and all I cared about that time was probably recess and soccer) I researched the causes of the killings. The former case involved high noise levels (read Link), the latter case, a minor traffic altercation. (read Link). Trivial situations that a good night's rest can probably remedy. (Teehankee's anger may be from the lack of it though) Who or what is to blame for these incidents? Lenient gun laws? Lax gun license application screening? Irritable people? DPWH? Noise Pollution and Videoke Bars?

I love guns...I admire the complexity of the parts and the simplicity of its operation. I love machined metal. It runs in the nuclear and extended family. We have rifles, shotguns, pistols, airguns, airsoft guns, paintball guns, nail guns and your common office decoration implements -- the glue gun and the staple gun. We plink, hunt, play wargames, nail, paint, staple, and glue. BUT we were taught NEVER to point a gun with real bullets at anyone. Heck, we were even taught not to point it at anyone even if it wasn't loaded, as a prank. Never draw your weapons unless you intend to use them--- and only in self-defense, not out of anger or spite. I've read an article from Manila Times written almost a year ago by Rolito Go's counsel (read here) It's all well and good until I reach this portion .."His shooting of Mr. Maguan was unintended and accidental." I don't know what weapon he used but guns have usually a heavy trigger pull to prevent accidents and most come with a safety unless both features have been altered. Shooting is rarely accidental unless it's a stray bullet.

I've stared at the business end of guns at least four times already, and that was just in EDSA while riding taxis. How these impulsive guys get permits shows how ineffective the neuropsychological exams really are. Should we pass stricter gun laws? Should we restrict gun ownership? Good idea, but the criminal elements have already the advantage, laws are only good to those who abide by them. We had numerous intrusions in our old house before and it became a necessity to arm ourselves lest we become a little sideline on the news about a break-in murder. (a new one just popped-up today in the news about four armed guys entering a house around midnight, attempting to rape two girls and ended shooting one in the head. Now, those are the kind of people I don't mind killing---through lethal injection) *Counts from one to ten* *exhales*

Back when I was still driving in Manila; there were a few instances where I wished I had a gun so I could shoot somebody(well maybe not just a few). So yeah, not owning one actually kept me out of jail.

If you have the tendency for road rage and/or if you are easily irritated by passing vehicles with all the windows rolled down and subs blaring 150 decibels when you're trying to sleep; I would strongly suggest for you not to own a gun. Which was the biggest mistake of Rolito Go. Road rage is normal, but add a gun into the picture and you have mutual destruction.

It's quite normal to be irritated and for our patience to wear thin o

so, you buy guns and bullets to compensate your small penis and immobile sperms?

@quentin - if that were true maybe I could apply for a permit to carry. It's a shame to conceal it's beauty. LOL

^heck no. we buy them so we could drop our pants at the next armed robber who decides to break-in and kill one of us. He'd be dazzled by sperm moving faster than the speed of sound.
    wanna fieldstrip one? :p

Maybe those traffic cops would be more respected if they had guns. People who suffer (or cause suffering) from road rage should definitely not carry guns.
