TTNL 2008
Guys, it's this part of the year when we start opening our hearts and be nice for at least a day.
We will try to repeat our traditional charity work this year and let this post be the sign to upstart it. The target for this year is at least 100 less-fortunate kids.
Here are the things that we need in order for us to continue this year's TTNL:
1. Location for TTNL: we need to find a location before the second week of November. Any suggestion from you guys will be HIGHLY APPRECIATED. The deadline for our target charity will be on November 11, 2008, Tuesday. We need all the details regarding the place. (Address, Contact Person, Room Availability, Sound system, Helpers available). The person, who will suggest the best place for TTNL, will head the Logistics operation this year.
2. Date for the TTNL : Best date so far would be December 6 and 13. 20 will be pushing it. I doubt if there's anyone of you who's still thinking clearly on the 20th. So we only have two dates to target. To the one who's going to find the place, please take note of the date.
3. Budget for the event : Well, we won't run if we don't have funds. So we're hoping that those well-off kids out there will be nice enough to donate some spare cash for this event. We do have our own accountant/auditor and if you want we can always post the details on how your love offerings will/was spent. We will start accepting donations once we found a place for the TTNL. (but to those who are too eager, please contact these email addresses : acer's email - acer3ya3@gmail.com and yani's email - kherdiezel_yani@yahoo.com )
4. VOLUNTEERS : yep, you!! We need volunteers for this event to be successful. Here are the spots available.
a. Shopping Committee : 4 to 6 persons - Responsible to shop for the gifts to be given, prizes, and maybe stuff for the food and drinks
b. Food Committee : 2 to 4 persons - yep, the food. what else.
c. Program Committee : 1 to 2 persons (lead) - responsible for the program proper, games to be played, special numbers (if needed), and the rest of the members that will actually attend the TTNL will be helping them with the games
d. Gift Wrapping committee : 3 to 6 persons - team that will do the gift wrapping of toys, school supplies and prizes for the event.
e. Backup committee : 1 to 2 persons - in case something went wrong, we always need a backup plan. :)
5. Schedule :
November 11 - deadline for the location, i'm afraid we have to cancel this year's TTNL if we can't find a suitable place for the event.
November 7 - official launch off for TTNL (excuse to meet up and have some fun). And of course, first time for planning for eager volunteers
November 29 - (tentative) Shopping for gifts
November 30 - (tentative) shopping / gift wrapping
December 1 - (holiday) gift wrapping.
December 6 - (tentative) TTNL !!!
December 13 - (tentative) TTNL !!!

Kita kits mga chong, sa lahat ng mga di pa nakakexperience ng TTNL/DBAA.. masaya promise, nakakapagod pero worth it.

suggestions
why just not adopt a barangay? by helping people help themselves. i know xmas is more on kids but... the possibility of expansion is not there. putting up a cooperative or livelihood project doesn't cost that much. what i did before was we started off with 5 piglets for 5 families. we provided the seminar, vet, enclosures and food until the porkchop reached adulthood. that 5 piglets, after 3 years is now 25+, supporting more than 17 families and growing. the families now owns a small living, even some started doing small stores and vegetable stalls. they now support the pigs and stands on their own after we left them early this year to start a similar project again.... now chooks.
another thing is, TTNL is a small group. The money coming in is very limited. why not make that small group BIG by making the group interesting and bold to the community. start introducing selling tickets for small raffles. say half of the ticket sales proceeds will help fund future projects or just to add it up to buy more spaghetti's for the event. look for small sponsors. im sure other people wants to help the less fortunate this xmas but don't know how or maybe they just need a lil bit of pushing.
sell bloody parol or gee-that-looks-terrible fruitcake to raise funds.
last thing is, start looking for a place earlier, September is ideal. donation must start as early as september too.
