I was told that after 5 years of hard work by the OFW, they can save up to 2Million pesos. Is it true..?

If you have a savings of that amount, and you planned to come back home, what are you going to do with that amount?

a) Build House
b) Buy a car
c) Business
d) others:_________ pls specify

somehow, almost all agreed with putting up a business. But what business do you think is favorable for an OFW? Because I believe, putting up a business is very different from employment. If we used to work 40 hrs per week , in business we have to work 80 hours per week. ( ... that is if everyone agrees with me....)

    What business should be started?

@xmlwiz2k: what business can be done by an OFW at the same time continuing the present job?

The problem with Filipinos is that they don't invest once they earn a lot of money. They think of luxury first, and the balatos, and the pasikatan. I know its stereotyping, but hey, that is what happens.

start a drug biz...sure money ka dun.

honestly, you need to come up with a unique biz first or your investment will be lost. there are lots of "common" biz nowadays that you can't be sure that if you start something it would be successful. think first...money is hard to earn

i used to think that if ever i work abroad i'll stop once i have a house for my family and maybe a car... then i'll seek local employment again... of course putting up a business comes to mind.. and if ever, a hardware store is number 1 in my list...

...ang problema di pa rin ako nakakaabroad hehe... pero nagpapatayo na ko ng bahay...

Most of my cousins in Binondo have a hardware store. They are hardwired to get into that biz as early as 10 years old. Minding the cashier's table and all, but why do they have to wear that white, sleeveless kamisa every time? I remember having a ton of those Guitar or Violin brand t-shirts too.

    ofw here.

depende naman sa lifestyle at sa sweldo mo e, 2mil for 5yrs for other people is already big, sa iba naman barya lang yun. been here down under for 4 years? and was able to save a decent amount for Apartment business and beach land (brag!) . i can buy what i want and go places. budgeting is the keyword. dont buy a car unless you're staying in the philippines, not to mention its a dead investment. business is so-so , you must be there to manage it, you can't just entrust your business to anyone else unless you want it badly managed. house depreciates. i recommend buying a LAND in a good location, farm if possible.

alternatively, head to the roulette table....

@Jhastin, have you seen your beachfront property yet? I bought mine under my BF's nose (we're saving for a little villa here) but I haven't seen it yet. Been paying minimum for the last seven years. It's in Palawan, and one of my relatives sold it to me. I don't really know what to do with it, although me and the BF are quite the sun-persons.

@ hq, nice! yup, saw it, been there. i bought it before i left and paid it in full 3 years later. its not the BoraBora type but its something. : ) i considered palawan before but not knowing what the place/people like plus the native language i reckon it'll be risky for me. brother is actually saving for a Palawan Island or is it in bohol? not sure. Yatch is sweet but i can't afford it..... atm. :) i <3>
