But when he realised he may have to run in the video, rather than work up a sweat, Kanye wisely decided to get a puppet to do all the hard work for him.
In the promo, Kanye's doppelganger is told by the Unified Games board he can run on behalf of the US in the 100m men's race.
As the tiny puppet - complete with Kanye's trademark shutter-shades - trains for the big race by running all over Los Angeles and working out at the gym, his hopes of winning look doubtful as he stands next to seven burly human athletes.
But when the big day finally arrives, Kanye's puppet silences his critics and takes home the gold medal, much to the delight of his thousands of screaming fans.
The inspirational lyrics to Champion tells listeners to believe in themselves and name checks Will Smith's movie The Pursuit Of Happyness and Lauryn Hill.
The puppets are in the style of Crank Yankers, a popular US comedy show, which features puppets re-enacting crank calls to celebrities.
