    actually aside from the opinions going around of extensive photoshop work it has already been put forward that from the amount and look of the fur and the shape of the skull it looks like a cat that drowned. The falling off of the fur occurs after a period of time in the water (have witnessed same thing first hand) and of course the bloat comes from the drowning.

    hopefully this lateral drawing gives you an idea on why the nose part looks like a beak without the skin.
