  I remember last month when there were also emails, SMS messages and IMs about an earthquake that was about to hit our country. Never happened though.

  my friends also said that there will be one on july 18...and its around 8 magnitude..which makes it exaggerated. wit that magnitude, it can bring down our college building which makes me feel freaked out, but i hope it will not happen though.

  hey people. earthquakes can't be predicted. And also their magnitudes can't be scaled before they hit. So don't believe such news. EARTHQUAKE PREDICTIONS are UNTRUE. Alright, they can actually be sensed seconds before they actually hit. Or some natural catastrophe has actually taken place like a volcano eruption. Its just natural to assume that the earth might tremble.

  Well probability or muriel-dresden's theory can give a fair reason but still the odds will most likely be nonsense.

  I'm really surprised at how gullible people still are in this day and age. I don't trust anything that comes to me on my phone or email. Though I do appreciate how much better their scams are getting.

  you know, someone told me in another forum that prophesies are different from predictions... since Mr. Whatshisname-Brazilian is said to have prophesized this... maybe we just need to see his credentials... but anyway... just pray n lng that it doesn't happen... ^_^

  earthquakes remind me of bahay ni lola
  i was in grade school then when the ground trembled
  the house swayed like it's gonna go crumbling down
  the house still stood as of today but with renovations made at the ground floor
  the upper portion is still the same, still very creepy (imagine that)

  Yep the earth trembled (just a little) last 2 days ago. I believe that earthquakes can't be predicted and much more it's magnitude. It is like saying that a thousand volts of lightning will hit my TV antenna 8:00 PM on Saturday.

  Prophesies, yes it is different but I don't believe that people can truly be prophesier... Even Nostradamus. You can say so a hundred prophesy a day, one of them will materialize one way or the other.

  None the less, it won't hurt to tale extra precautions and lot's of prayer.

  What is certain is that earthquakes will continue to happen; we just can't predict the exact date. We can, however, guesstimate about when the next big one is going to happen. For example, the last major earthquake to hit luzon was in 1990. The event released a huge amount of stress from the Philippine fault. Afterwards, the slow process of stress buildup restarted and continued up to now. By comparing the gradual movements of our faultlines and comparing it with historical data; we can estimate which decade or year the next "stress release point" is going to happen. The longer that event is postponed, the bigger the amount of stress builds up. It's been 18 years. It's quite possible that we are almost due for the next one. It's best to be careful. Pray for deliverance; don't pray that the earthquake be delayed. The longer it takes for the next earthquake to happen, the bigger the damage.
