the world's oldest (new testament) bible goes online. the codex sinaiticus, will be read by our mortal eyes soon.

http://www.nbc10.com/family/16947935/detail.html

guess what? there was NO resurrection.

with mark's last line has them (disciples) leaving in fear. "holy mother of god, it's a zombie, get your farking chariots, fast," could be the probable reaction. you just have to love all those later changes, rewrites, translations, deletions, and all the other stuff that makes god's word so infallible and nonconforming.

frankly, i dig jesus, i just don't buy the other stuff that was added along the way.

^ now, if the original's missing, how can you be sure that the one you're reading is still the "right" copy ... :P

everybody knows the value of the book depends on the author and the publisher... who's the first publisher anyway?

^ The apostles? I mean, they were the ones who originally wrote the Gospels and all that stuff right?

^nor the editors :D it's really the editors that did most of the changes. IMHO they dehumanized them.

can you imagine that our faith is based on the decisions and crankiness of the editors then?

actually, there really was no new testament Bible to begin with. throughout the decades after JC died, it's compiled from different sources some by authors who never even seen Christ at all. but ofcourse, there's a governing body that supervises all that (the early Church).

so in effect, there are some 'books' by other 'authors' that were rejected as there were inadequacies, incompatibilities, and god knows what other reason. hence, the stuff that modern curious scripture junkies are looking for or accusing Vatican for hiding truths. cue in the Opus Dei, Illuminati, or the Merovingians, or whatever fictional works you can grab from the bookstore.

and fyi, we all know there are many versions of the bible, each one claiming to be the most accurate after translating it from both Greek and Aramaic sources. most major Christian sects have their own translation from the originals, so you can imagine the mess.

the apostles never wrote anything and mark (john mark, peter's nephew) was the first of the synoptic gospels where matthew and luke copied a century later.mark's gospel stops at the tomb, the additions beyond it were written differently from the markan style. augustine of hippo was the biggest bible editor methinks.

@teng bebs - sinong panginoon yan? lol.

@manong acer - the cafeteria christians are always going to argue that the bible isn't literal even though they (in most cases) identify with a religion whose main tenent is the belief in a literal bible. hehehe

@gelow - i always wondered because jesus was said to be a carpenter (sons follow the father's trade mostly in those days) i'm sure he kept a few curses everytime he hit his thumb with a hammer. lol. curses in aramaic, anyone?
